Kinder and TK Expansion

Two factors are increasing the need for Kinder and associated programs. First, due to expanding student populations, a general increase of Kinder Student has been realized in most elementary school campuses since their construction in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Secondly, recent developments at the state level resulted in the creation of a new grade level called Transitional Kindergarten (TK). Students in this grade level require similar supporting spaces to Kinder spaces, including restrooms, workrooms, storage rooms, and access to age specific play areas. Current recommendations also include dedicated drop off separate from the main school drop off to allow for safer student entry, and parent walk-up. As a result, Kinder zones on campus require careful placement and more substantial renovation to existing structures. Renovations necessarily include restroom and supporting space expansion and careful placement of kinder play areas and drop-offs.
